FRESH FIRE

Text: Acts 2:2–3

By Rev. Dr. Festus Olu Ade Alade
Church Pastor, ZBC, Adewole Ilorin

INTRODUCTION

Beloved, throughout Scripture, whenever God was ready to revive His people, restore His purpose, or release His power, He did not do it quietly. He did not do it casually. He did not do it through empty ritual. He did it through fire. Fire has always been God’s signature of His presence, His approval, and His power. Fire burned on the altar in the Old Testament. Fire fell on Mount Carmel. Fire rested on the prophets. Fire led Israel by night. And when the New Testament church was born, it was not born in silence—it was born in fire.

Today, I did not come to offer cold theology or dead religion. I came to preach to people who are tired of church without power, prayer without results, and Christianity without transformation. If you are hungry for renewal, restoration, and revival, then this message is for you. Somebody shout, “Lord, send fresh fire!”

POINT ONE: FRESH FIRE COMES FROM HEAVEN, NOT FROM MAN

The Bible says, “Suddenly there came a sound from heaven.” This fire did not come from the earth. It did not come from human excitement, emotional manipulation, or religious performance. It came from heaven. This teaches us that genuine spiritual fire cannot be manufactured. It cannot be copied. It cannot be sustained by talent alone. Fire only comes when God breathes on a people who are waiting on Him. In Acts chapter 1, Jesus commanded the disciples not to leave Jerusalem until they were endued with power from on high. They obeyed. They prayed. They waited. And heaven responded. This is important because God still honors obedience before anointing. Many people want power, but they don’t want preparation. They want fire, but they don’t want the altar.

Throughout the Bible, whenever God answered with fire, it was always heaven responding to faith. When Elijah stood on Mount Carmel and called on the God who answers by fire, the fire fell not because of eloquence, but because of covenant obedience. When Solomon dedicated the temple, fire fell from heaven and consumed the sacrifice, showing that God approved the house. Fire always confirms what heaven endorses. Hear me clearly: fresh fire is heaven’s response to hunger on earth. If you are desperate enough, God is willing enough. Heaven is not silent—it is waiting for someone who is ready.

POINT TWO: FRESH FIRE FILLS WHAT IT FALLS ON

The Scripture says the wind “filled the whole house where they were sitting.” God’s fire does not visit temporarily. It comes to fill, to saturate, and to take over. When God fills a house, He is not interested in sharing space with fear, sin, pride, or compromise. Fire purifies before it empowers. That is why Isaiah, when he saw the glory of God, cried out, “Woe is me, for I am undone.” And only after the coal from the altar touched his lips did God say, “Whom shall I send?” Cleansing came before commissioning.

Fire changes atmospheres. When Moses encountered the burning bush, it was not just a miracle—it was a moment that transformed a fugitive shepherd into a deliverer. When the fire of God fills your life, you cannot remain who you used to be. Old desires lose their grip. Old habits lose their authority. Old fears lose their voice. Many people want God to bless what He is actually trying to burn. But when you allow God to fill the house, you give Him permission to rearrange everything. Fresh fire burns away what is unnecessary so that what is eternal can remain.

POINT THREE: FRESH FIRE IS PERSONAL AND INDIVIDUAL

The Bible says the fire “sat upon each of them.” Not some of them. Not the leaders only. Not the loudest ones. Each of them. This is the beauty of the gospel. God does not anoint crowds—He anoints people. He does not call groups—He calls individuals. On the day of Pentecost, the fire was not shared; it was distributed. Everyone had their own encounter with God.

In the Old Testament, the fire on the altar had to be kept burning continuously. The priest could not borrow yesterday’s fire for today’s sacrifice. In the same way, you cannot live on someone else’s prayer life, someone else’s worship, or someone else’s anointing. God wants to set you on fire. Shout- LORD SET MY LIFE ON FIRE FOR YOU! When the fire sat on them, it changed them immediately. Peter, who once denied Jesus before a servant girl, stood up and preached with boldness, and three thousand souls were saved. Fire transformed fear into faith and cowardice into courage.

Fresh fire does not just make you feel good—it makes you effective. It turns believers into witnesses. It turns Christians into carriers of God’s presence. It turns ordinary people into instruments of divine power.

APPEAL: THE FIRE IS STILL FALLING

Beloved, the same fire that fell in Acts is still available today. God has not changed. The Holy Spirit has not retired. The gospel still has power. If you are unsaved, this fire can forgive your sins, change your heart, and give you new life. If you are saved but spiritually dry, this fire can restore your joy and renew your passion. If you are called but weary, this fire can strengthen you again. Jesus said, “I am come to send fire on the earth, and how I wish it were already kindled.” He is still baptizing with the Holy Ghost and fire. He is still reviving the broken. He is still saving the lost.

PERSONAL PROPHETIC DECLARATION

Congregation, Please Lift your hands and declare boldly:

I declare that the fire of God is falling again in my life, in my home, and in this church. The fire of the Holy Spirit is igniting my heart, renewing my passion, and awakening my spirit. I declare that the mighty wind of God is blowing again over my life. Every dry season is ending, every stagnant place is shifting, and everything that was delayed is moving forward by the power of God. I declare that I am rising again in faith, in power, and in purpose. I am not weak, I am not defeated, and I am not empty. I am filled with the Holy Ghost, clothed with boldness, and walking in divine authority. I declare that my life will never be the same again. Every chain is broken, every old cycle is destroyed, and every limitation is removed.
From this moment forward, I walk in new fire, fresh oil, and renewed obedience.

I declare that I reject cold religion and powerless Christianity. I reject dead routine and empty tradition.
I refuse to live on yesterday’s oil or borrowed fire. With faith and expectation, I cry out to God: Fill me again. Revive me again. Ignite me again.

Shout it three times, LORD JESUS, SEND ME FRESH FIRE!
